Hi JD Gumby,

We plan to make these features available for all books. We are most definitely not purposefully keeping these features away from sideloaded epubs for any reason other than time and effort required.

The renderer that we use for sideloaded epubs (Adobe SDK) is different from the one we use for Kobo books for various reasons, necessitating having to build reading-related features twice, once of each renderer. Most of our readership does not side-load books, and this affects how work gets prioritized. However, we are still committed to achieving parity on both types of content, just a matter of time.

We have already introduced once-kepub-only features to sideloaded content, such as dictionary support, and we will continue to do so in the coming releases, so stay tuned!
