If it's a PRS 500 did you ever send it off to Sony for their firmware update of the reader? They did some internal changing of stuff so it would be able to see and read epub. I ask because I remember when Sony had the dire warnings of send it in for an firmware upgrade or upgrade the device to a PRS 300.
