Since it is the same screen type I think it must be the font choice. I'm currently using Georgia eInk 25 on my 950, what font are you using.

The 950 is eink and is 1024x600, definitely not 4:3. As it turns out the Kindle Fire, Galaxy Tab and the Nook Color are 7 inch screens and are all also 1024x600. Some may find the 950 narrow, but the extra space works great for reading.
