I'll second [third, fourth? I lost count] the recommendation for Tilley hats. Maybe not the stylist hat that you had in mind, but durable as can be.

Biggest problem? They don't wear out! Mine [T4] is a tad too small, but since it won't wear out I can't bring myself to buy a new one! I use it as a hat (of course), pillow, sunshade, bucket, seat, and just about every other purpose that you could come up with, and it still looks new ~12 years later -- nay, better than new because of the patina on the brass hardware.
