If I had a spare $100 right now, I'd happily toss this thing under a moving bus, and pick up a Kobo or something. Alas, I don't...
I gave up on mine (it's mostly collecting dust in some corner), but I do remember, that my device also started acting funny once (not remember the place of the book, when shut down, etc.). There is a procedure called hardware reset, which solved the problem then. I don't recall, how it's done, but it certainly is described here in the forums.
