Video games are a perfect example of an industry where exclusives are extremely common and accepted as normal business practice. Sony/Microsoft create or buy gaming studios, and have them only produce games for their own consoles. If you want to play those games, you have to buy the corresponding console.

But that is not comparable. For ebooks you can usually buy the paper copy. So the default case (the paper book) is that no restrictions concerning readers apply. So introducing ebook restrictions is going from no restriction to restrictions which seems to be something that is not wanted.
