What do you mean?

I never ever charge my 505 via a computer.
I charge it only via power adapter, the one that came with 500. There is no computer nearby to the charger. When I travel I also use this adapter with additional adapters, depending on where I travel. I normally don't have any computers with me when I travel.

Maybe I misunderstood you?

None of Sony Readers, starting with 500 (505,700,300/600,350/650) required a computer to charge them. Computer is merely an alternative way to charge Sony Readers.
