My Jetbook Lite supports nested folders and does a great job with epubs (my preferred format) -- but supports just about any format out there.

The "Lite" has been discontinued, but there are still places to get the conventional Jetbook (a built-in battery rather than replaceable batteries).

The Jetbooks/Jetbook Lites have LCD screens, not eInk and not touchscreens. But you won't find too many people who have them and regret getting them. (Check out the MR sub-forum.)

No wifi -- ebooks are loaded via a USB connection or on SD cards. In a home schooling situation this might be an advantage -- you know exactly what's on the reader. No MP3s or web browser, either.
