Thanks, Mark - that clarifies a lot. Now if I could get a bit more clarifying...
I did turn off the SD-card-scan, but I do not remember seeing anything about read cache - where is that set? Do they work in tandem?
I like the skipping of the initial scan, but is there a downside with the copy to IM (besides that message and delay)? Is IM the RAM or internal flash card/SSD storage? Is the previous book image flushed when another is opened?
Does the initial scan apply to music files on the Mem Stick card (I use that for music, and the SD card for books), also? I have watched that light blink quite a while (700+ mp3 files) upon an initial startup, so it seems so. How will music playback be affected by the no-scan setting - any such copy to IM being done for that?
