What I would like to do is create a collection called "John Sinclair" and then a couple of "subcollecitons" like "1-50"; "51-100"... so I don't have to scroll down from book 1 till book 256 every time i start a new book.

I hope my problem is understandable, despite my bad english.
When you are in a collection (or any book list for that matter) if you touch the page number area (ie. "Page 1 of 20") you'll get a popup with a scroll bar and a last page (and later a first page) jump button that makes it really quick to navigate where you want to go. Give it a try.
