The "E Ink ®" confirms an EInk screen, and I agree it almost has to be Pearl. The "in collaboration with Bookeen" suggests that this technology
might be available to other vendors from Texas Instruments. The latest generation of SoCs (system on chip) don't need a separate EInk display controller, i.e. any hardware involved is on-chip. Most new devices are using the Freescale i.MX508, although the Nook Simple Touch is using an TI OMAP3621 (
E-book Reader Matrix). So TI might in the future offer HSIS under licence from Bookeen as a way overtake Freescale in this market segment.
