That $4 compass in another time would have been considered quite valuable. It would have been considered remarkable with a liquid sealed needle, and glowing in the dark. The craftsmanship would have been very respectable in an earlier time.

In fact that is why I wanted to see it. To check the craftsmanship, accuracy, and then probably throw in in a box, pack, or pouch or a compartment somewhere as a spare if it met muster.
