I just tried - I selected the book, clikced View > View specific format, chose HTMLZ and still got the message that Windows can't open the format. Should I choose ebook-viewer.exe from the list of programs I find in calibre or just go with calibre.exe?

ebook-viewer.exe worked just fine.
