Actually, I was nonplussed and just said, 'But you
told me that you had done Stonehenge in school!' in a hurt tone of voice. Then I did all the lining up with the rising sun at solstices stuff until she begged me to stop.
I went back there a couple of weeks ago. The visitor centre is
still non-existent and they charge £6.50 for a walk around the stones. A lot of people preferred to look at them from the road.
Avebury is better. It's free and you are allowed to walk through and touch the stones. And the local shops sell a much better range of new-age tat.
