John Day Company had the original publishing rights on the hardcover but they ceased to exist over 40 years ago. Pocket Books published the paperback. Since Simon & Schuster purchased Pocket Books, they still sell a softcover edition of The Good Earth. It may be unclear who, if anyone, has the right to produce the book in a digital format. Sad.

Addendum: I see Buccaneer Books Inc. produced a hardcover edition in 1995. Who knows, the digital rights may be in the Twilight Zone.
