While cloud is great for Apple purchased content, it's pretty worthless when there's no wifi hotspot available and when you wish to store non-Apple content. 5GB doesn't get you much room.
An iPhone requires a 2-year contract and an expensive data plan for a subsidized model or $649~$749 for an unlocked one. That's not an option, it's robbery.
