This makes sense for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that the major advantage of e-ink over lcd is the "reading outside" advantage, and who really takes a DX outside to read?
Plus I have to believe that the Big Fire will come in at the same price point as the DX.
If that's the case, why would anyone buy a DX? I have mine almost accidentally - I ordered one to try it out when I lost my K3 (translation: when I left it on the airplane and the cleanup crew stole it) and since this was in my pre-iPad days, liked it enough to keep it even when I bought another K3. But if I'd had an iPad at the time, I would not have bought the DX.

the fire is an LCD device with 8 hours battery, how on earth can that be a replacement for a large screen pearl eink reader for books and pdfs (DX)?
and i always read my DX outside, why wouldn't people? its allot nicer to read on a proper hardback sized screen and the physical form is no bigger than a magazine.
last time i checked people still read magazines outside
