OK, cool .... but it feels COLD! After a muggy week of afternoon monsoons, we finally got our first Canadian cold air mass of the season. Temps dip into the 40's F at night and only reach the low 60's in the day. Very gusty too.
Must be nearing fall. Leaves starting to detach. Ran into an opossum (literally) getting the lawn mower out from under the deck. He/she froze. I froze. He/she ran up a tree. I ran into the house. Not sure I want one as a neighbor.
Hopefully this is the last lawn mowing of the season.

I slowly approached and sat near it. The creature stopped hissing and barring its teeth, and in a few minutes it seemed to realize that I meant it no harm. At that point I slowly extended my hand and began to stroke its fur. Then I raised the garage door so it could escape. It just sat there. It was still there a couple of hours later when I returned to check, but it finally decided to go find a new home. It was an interesting experience.
Today I need a jacket to read out on the deck.

I'd better not tell y'all "my" opossum story. But I will tell you that it involves the mayor of my hometown in Texas, an opossum, and a series of photos...
