I don't buy that at all. Amazon used to be in a stronger position and could dictate pricing to publishers, back them most new releases were $9.99. Then Apple came long, broke the "monopoly" and now publishers dictate pricing and bestsellers cost $12.99 and more.

The publishers behavior is far more monopolistic than Amazons.
