Usually customising fonts with PRS+ should work with both DRM and non-DRM epubs. However, there will always be a few epubs (both DRM and non-DRM) whose internal css will conflict with your PRS+ font settings. If the epub is non-DRM there will always be a way to tweak its css to remove the conflict.

P.S. Go for it. PRS+ is well worth having
