One of the problems as I see it is Overdrive. Overdrive is where libraries get their eBooks for lending. They get them in PDF and Mobipocket formats. But the issue is that Overdrive has a lot of eBooks in PDF only. Also, because they sell the eBooks separately, the libraries have to buy PDF and Mobipocket as two separate eBooks. So it turns out the the PDF is usually purchased if they library only goes for one format. Now not all the eBooks that overdrive have should not be in PDF. Some are text books and other such books that work better in PDF. But for all the regular books, nothing wrong with Mobipocket. In fact, it works a lot better for more people who read on the go then PDF ever will. So let's all blame Overdrive for helping keep PDF as an eBook format for eBooks that don't need to be in PDF.
