I don't know if this qualifies as a V&R post - b/c I was laughing so hard!
Well, yesterday my partner was out on the deck doing some touch-up painting on the railing. I was here surfing MR. I heard a light tapping on the deck door. Since our new kitten Stella loves to "hunt" bugs on the deck through the glass, I'd gotten used to hearing her paws click on the glass, and ignored the sound.
Minutes later, the tapping sound grew louder. Almost like knocking. So I wander into the living room and see my partner leaning against the deck door pointing down. This usually means "the damn kitten is lying asleep in the door track, and I can't open the door without crushing her paws, please move her now!" So I look down - and there's no kitten in sight. I check behind the curtains, next to the air vent, etc. - no kitten. Looking up, I see a look on my partner's face that would do Medusa proud - and she is emphatically jabbing her finger at the door handle.
So I look at the handle, and see that someone has locked her out! Our deck door handle has a little lever - pushing up unlocks the door, pushing down locks it. Apparently Stella, the wonder kitten, was jumping up to catch a bug [she can jump vertically almost 6-8 feet now] and hit the latch on the way down - locking the door! I didn't know whether to be amused or frightened! My partner insists that "my kitten" [Stella is always my exclusive property when she does something spectacularly bad] deliberately locked her out. It didn't help when I reminded her it could have been worse. If I hadn't been home, she'd have to climb down off the deck & go to the neighbors for the emergency key and admit she'd been locked out of the house by a kitten!
