I do not have a problem with file extensions. The file associations are correct (as I mentioned) and, when I open any of the three files, the files open in the desired application (not Sigil).
The problem is that the big brown Sigil "S" is now on every single epub, html, text file that resides on my system and shouldn't be. I suspect the only solution is to roll my system back to the old state with the older Sigil.
