Could a saying by a group that is not located in a common geographic area but have a common interest be a colloquialism?
One I'm sure all of us here use - "It fell into the bit bucket."

An interesting one I had to explain to a Spanish speaking person was, "over yonder." Luckily in Spanish it translates easily to "allá" as opposed to "allí".
