Coffee's price in USA is driven by several factors, including "brand". But based on what my mom told me and what I've seen in Colombia, making coffee old fashion way, should be more expensive and supposedly, tastes better.

But the fact is that, if you keep it on a container, like a ceramic one, and you close it, it should keep its flavor. Don't keep it in the original can.

Cans are bad! bad! for coffee and drinks. They do not retain original flavor of coffee or drinks. Ceramic containers are better, same for glass! Ceramic and glass composition makes it fragile but also immune to absorb odors and other particles, at least, not so easy.

Just to give you an idea. In Colombia, we still drink Coca Cola in regular glass bottles. People started complaining about flavors so Coca Cola put it back on the market. Now, I'm sure there are maybe other reasons why they did that, but cans do not keep original flavors of food, for sure.
