With so many folks upgrading to the new Kindle, or planning to soon, it seems like a good time to mention
Kindle for Troops (K4T), a program that enables you to donate your pre-owned Kindle reader to a soldier who is deployed overseas.
The organization will accept Kindle 2 (US or International) or Kindle 3 (Wi-Fi or 3G) ereaders that are still in good working order and have a working battery charger. Donations are tax-deductible in the U.S.
Details are available at
http://ebooksfortroops.org/donate-a-kindle/, and lots of pictures are on the organization's Facebook page at
http://www.facebook.com/ebooksfortroops.
In some of the photos, you can see the camo covers donated to the project by M-Edge.
The non-profit organization also accepts dollars to purchase new Kindles for the troops, for those who can't bear to part with their beloved Kindle, or who, like me, own a different device.
