Lots already mentioned here that I'd recommend (Eliot, Thackeray, etc). Have you tried the Brontes? Given the authors you mention, you might enjoy Anne Bronte's The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Closer to Elizabeth Gaskell's than to Charlotte's or Emily's work - in fact Charlotte seems to have disapproved of it rather strongly.
