Further 302 issues...any suggestions (other than the trash?)
The 302 has been one of the worst, most frustrating gadget purchases I've made in years. I'm using, it, now, until it gives up the ghost, at which time I'll replace it with something non-pocketbook. I like the e-ink screen, but PB's software support and manufacturing quality of the 302 has been terrible and never lived up to the promises made by the company and reps on this site.
I'm on 15.2, the last (if I understand correctly) non-beta version of the OS.
My latest issues:
1. battery cover cracked around screw, now must use tape to hold in place (not much more I can do here).
2. The calibration of the touch screen is no longer accurate, with a .25-.5 cm vertical shift regardless of the number of times I recalibrate (with pen or finger). I can adapt, but it's a pain.
3. The device sporadically loses all bookmarks for the book I'm currently reading as well as the place I am in the book.
4. the microSD card (if I'm getting the type right) functions one moment, not the next. It's not the card, but, I believe, the connection of the card-slot hardware to the mb. When the case flexes/moves, it goes in and out of contact. Thus, working one moment, not the next. Because of this, I have to put all my books that I want to access reliably (or copy them there) to the internal memory.
5. The latest issue and the one I'm hoping someone has a suggestion for is that when plugged in via USB (to Win 7), win7 sees the internal drive as needing to be formatted. I can see/copy to (usually) the external memory card easily enough. Now, what's odd is that the internal memory card is the only one consistently working on the device. Is there a mode in the system to check/verify the internal memory and drive? I obviously don't want to reformat it from windows. (by the way, until a month or so, the internal drive read fine and without issue). For now, I copy my books to the external memory, load up the device, and copy each book or folder to the internal memory manually; it's a pain. Any ideas?
I won't even bother going into the lack of features that were promised on the website and by reps here in the past over 14 months ago that haven't appeared (and on who's promises I foolishly purchased this device).
I'm trying to stretch the life of this device out, being fairly broke these days, otherwise I'd have long since used it as a projectile to deal with the noisy seagulls that breed on my neighbor's roof. I'd not even give this thing away to someone as they'd come to hate me quickly for passing on so much frustration.
