Hmmm - I visit the US every year on business. If the Kindles are usable worldwide, and they seem to be, since the charger allows for it, I might wait. Do you think that the ad supported ones will actually care that you're accessing it from the UK?
I bought a Nook Color last year and it works a treat in the UK, except that I can't buy the books or the apps. I use Calibre a lot, so I can send books to both my Kindle and my NC so that's not too big a problem. And until recently my NC was rooted.
Still prefer the Nook Color for one simple reason - the micro SD card slot. I love the convenience of being able to switch or expand the memory. I don't like being limited to 8g, and since I travel a fair bit, I don't like being dependent on the cloud. Once they bring out a 3G Fire, I might consider it.
