I have a nook color and it is a fine device - out a year ahead of Amazon no less.
The problem is and has always been .... lack of Apps when it runs stock.
I'm tired of messing around with the boot cards and installing other flavors of Android on the thing. I want to take a new one out of the box, turn it on, and have all the options I need. The need to respond either by getting apps into their own store or allowing access to the Android marketplace or I won't be back.
As for the eInk readers, they are going to have to drop their price. They lost the big advantage there when Amazon got Library access.
I don't say either of those with any glee. When Barnes and Noble first introduced their nook I'm one of those who predicted almost immediate failure. A bookstore trying to sell tech? HaHaHaHaHa!!!!
But, they have shocked and amazed the hell out of me with what they've managed to accomplish ... ahead of Amazon in many areas. But they are fighting a beast and I'm not sure how many tricks they have left to pull.
