I signed up the the Philidelphia free library a few days ago, waiting on the card at the moment.
I'm in PA and have a Philly card, but I've never set foot in a library there (30-45 minutes away). The card showed up fairly quickly, as I recall.

The bad about the Philly ebook selection, like my local library selection, is 1) too few and 2) always out. I think the Kindle users are making #2 even worse. What I usually do is think ahead so that way by the time I'm finishing up on my current book, or two, my ebook might be free. Oh well, them's the breaks.

Saw the same on my first test Kindle library ebook (the emails where it's suggested to buy) - I don't mind either, it's not any different than the other spam I get from major etailers. As long as the ebooks themselves are unaltered i.e not laced with ads themselves, then it's no big deal.
