@chocolateal: Probably completely unrelated, the jailbreak install doesn't do a thing with the Kindle's USB handling. Restart both your Kindle and your computer, and try again. Might also want to try another USB cord, in case it just died at the wrong time.

For the record, does the Kindle even switch the screen to one of the 'Plugged to computer' image?
