prett sure it is against visa / mastercard rules to take money before shipping goods. reputable retailers e.g. Amazon, never do it. some smaller ones may do so out of ignorance but Sony cannt claim that, surely.
why not call sony again & tell them to put the money back until reader is ready to ship. mention distance selling regulations.
PS there is no delivery date info on site and there is no warning that they'll take money immediately. I'm sure that combination makes taking your payment illegal & could be referred to consumer watchdogs.

I checked for other UK retailers comparison pre-order prices but none of the usual culprits have the T1, & google shopping found none.
