You Sir suffer from tunnel vision (along with many device makers
who continue to NOT support non-ASCII file names).
Calibre is cross platform / Cross devices.
It needs
and will support the Majority, not a unique minority of devices and OS.
ASCII is understood by most file systems all the way back to MSDOS or CPM days.
