There's a similar thing for historical mysteries called The Medieval Murderers.

Basically a bunch of historical mystery authors each had a short story about their detectives, all basically around the same mystery, but following it chronologically through time.

I think there are a few of them, the one I read dealt with King Arthur's (purported) bones, the ones supposedly found at Glastonbury
