Man, it's really depressing. I work across a few Dick Smith stores in Australia, where we carry the Kindle. When Borders and A&R were around, I would recommend Kobo every time. Now, I can't because there's no retail presence. There hasn't been for months. In the meantime, every time we get stock of Kindles, no matter which store, they sell out within a week. The same is happening with the online store, and also at Big W, the other major retailer carrying Kindles in Aus.

Both businesses have pushed (tens of) thousands of Kindles in just over a month.

And then what of the Kobo? Collins' website has no information at all regarding the fact that they're even planning to sell the Kobo Wifi, let alone the Touch. Borders took down their 'coming soon' banner for the Kobo Touch a month ago. And as for A&R? Their site doesn't even mention the KT.

Kobo actually had the Australian market for almost a year. They were selling the only decent e-reader at a reasonable price in brick and mortar stores. And now, at best, they're merely rapidly losing the market.

Does Kobo no longer want Australian money?
