Battery Too Low

Husband has a Nook Color that he's running stock (i.e., not rooted).

Last night, I charged to 100% full battery and he read a little before bed. The device is running at the default "turn screen down after X minutes" setting.

Today, we noticed that the device is completely dead and says "Battery Too Low" to turn on. We've charged it for 30 minutes (yes, we have the B&N charger; the light is orange), but no joy. Still too low to turn on.

Anyone seen this before?
