Was the stain on there when you first installed the skin? (I'm assuming you installed it, because otherwise you could just return it for them to look at.)

The reason I ask is that some plastics can release plasticizers etc. in small quantities, and cause apparently inexplicable marks or blemishes on polymers left in contact with them, even for a few moments. Many's the owner of a fine nitrocellulose-lacquered guitar who bitterly regretted leaving it on the Naugahyde sofa while they went to the fridge.
