Cool Howdy, Strangers...(until we get to know each other)

I've been reading at least a book a week for 60+ years; I've been online for 34; I'm interested in ALMOST everything; I'm especially interested in finding some way to manage my books on my Kindle. I have about 2000 physical books at home and I literally ran out of room, so I broke down and bought a Kindle, but I want to be able to ORGANIZE my eBooks. I've been reading mysteries for over 30 years and I like to keep them in order. I don't necessarily care about order with my Steinbeck books, or Vonnegut books, or Twain books, but with mysteries it's important (to ME). I'm a bit surprised that the Kindle software doesn't allow you to do that, but I had one of the first Macintosh PC's made and you'd be amazed at what it didn't allow you to do. Things That Get Used a Lot Change over Time. But at the moment, the Kindle doesn't offer much in terms of organization. I've HEARD of Calibre but can't find it anywhere. (I've also heard there are problems with it, but I'm getting desperate). Any other apps that are useful along the organizational lines would also interest me. Thanks. Looking forward to fun, useful, and interesting discussions.
