Amazon is big business that grew from obscurity like Walmart, Microsoft, Apple, MacDonald's, Starbucks etc.
They aren't inherently evil and don't seem to want to take over world government.
The onus is on the consumer to decide whether to support local businesses or smaller, individually owned businesses etc. over convenience and/or cost.
