Even if you can't get the Register function to work, you can 'authorize' Edge with an authorized instance of Adobe Digital Editions, and then you can open any DRM ebooks that are linked to the same Adobe account (whether sideloaded with ADE or not). At least that worked for me (after getting 'error 80).

Except that you don't need ADE at all read DRMed ebooks from B&N with the Reader app. When you open it will prompt for "username" and "password"—these are the name and number on the credit card associated with your B&N account at the time you downloaded the book.
