I kind of think original users should have the option for the offers. We've already paid extra to not have the offers, so what does it cost them if we decide we do want them.
That being said, I don't feel ripped off, either. There are a lot of free and discounted books out there that I've gotten from Amazon for the Kindle that I probably wouldn't have read otherwise and the savings does add up. Has it added up to what I paid for my 3G? probably not, but I do feel I'm close to halfway in covering my 3G cost through discounted and free books.
