But eSword is what I'm actually using right now. Free and has a lot of commentaries and resource materials available. Can buy NASB for it. I use Modern King James Version right now, and it is adequate. But I miss the NIV.

Have you looked at
Olive Tree Bible Software ? This reader is free for both PalmOS and PocketPC and there are several free Bibles for download. Unfortunately you would still have to pay for the NIV version but this Bible file would work on either platform.
