Some of you might remember that I've posted about having problems encouraging my geriatric cats to eat. (They are siblings, almost 18 years old.) Gus will eat some canned foods, but up to this point Lori just flat refused to taste any moist cat food. She would pick at dry food, and would eat a little fresh baked chicken, but that's it. A couple of weeks ago she got really down and I was afraid I was going to lose her. She didn't want to eat much or drink much, and was sleeping a lot more than usual. I let out all the stops trying to find something to stimulate her appetite, and finally I found
this -- she actually loves it! It's just mushy ground food, and I started out adding some hot water to it and mushing it even further into a sort of gruel (because I was afraid she was getting dehydrated.) She likes it so well that way that I'm serving it to her that way all the time, and to Gus as well. She's nice and perky now, putting a little weight back on, and actually interested in eating -- such a change!
I've been trying to get her onto moist food for a while now, but this is the first one that she will even touch. She's VERY picky -- no Fancy Feast or any of the casserole type pouch foods, not even canned tuna. I don't know why this one appeals to her, but I'm so relieved to have found something she'll eat.
(Wow, this petite kitty looks like Godzilla when she's right up in my face like this!

I'm pretty sure they're both thinking, "Leave us alone -- can't you see we're trying to sleep here??")
