My parents were great fans of the book 'Cheaper by the Dozen' and brought us kids up following several of the ideas used there. One such was to put a bookshelf right beside the toilet, filled with the full set of Britannica Junior Encyclopedia (the older version before all the pretty pictures) By age twelve I had read through A-Z twice. I've never lost the habit despite the fact that Japanese water closets barely have enough room to hang a paperback on the string! Thank goodness for e-readers!

For the 'bath and beach,' I put my reader into a waterproof snorkeling bag like this, rated safe to 10 meters.
