I usually won't go above $5-8. Next step is check the library. If it's not at the library in one form or other, I'll just wait for the price to drop, or if I really REALLY want it I'll buy the hard copy, like with the new Maisie Dobbs book.

My TBR list is also huge so I don't really feel the loss if I end up not buying a book here or there.
