All books are 'published.' Some are printed on paper, some are simply held in electronic form and re-formatted for various display devices. Yes, there are a few jobs lost in reduced physical sales, but perhaps a few more gained in developing web sites.
We've beat to death the topic of pBooks vs. eBooks. My own view, which may well change in time, is that until publishers can provide the same "share" value for eBooks that we have with pBooks, the paper book market will survive very well. That in and of itself may well be motivation enough for publishers to continue pBook production, and inhibit the wholesale acceptance of eBooks among readers. Recognize that this forum is not a representative sample of the general public, and that millions of old timers still read hundreds of books a year free from their public libraries and as borrowed books from good friends.
