People are stupid. (Present company excepted, of course). We lock the main (south) store entrance at nine p.m. so the cashiers can more easily watch who is coming and going via the north entrance (since the registers face that way) at night. There is a sign on the south entrance that clearly states this. I had just turned off the automatic opener on the doors when someone needed me for something. I left the doors pulled together, but not locked. When I turned back around, I saw a lady push through the inner doors (they're sliding doors) and leave one side dangling off the track. By the time I got there, she'd already done the same to the outer doors. I called after her, "Ma'am, if you had asked me, I would have let you out!" She replied, "Oh, it's ok, and the sign said, "PUSH TO OPEN" so I did!"
*smacks head on desk*. The sign says, " In case of EMERGENCY push to open" and it means push them APART, not OUTWARD!!!! It took me and the night manager ten solid minutes to get both sets of doors back on the sliding tracks....*sigh*.
