The opposite applies for us here in New Zealand. I thought agency pricing meant all retailers had to charge the same price.
But kobo in NZ is FAR more expensive than the Amazon kindle store for the same book, same publisher. NZ'ers buy from Amazon in US dollars, from kobo in NZ dollars, but even allowing for exchange rates the books via kobo are almost always 30-50% more expensive. And Amazon kindle has a far wider selection as well - including lots of NZ literature which is far cheaper than what NZ's largest retailer sells it for.
