That is not quite true. Onyx does produce an A60 version with Pearl screen. Unfortunately this model seems to be sold only in Russia. You cannot buy it (yet?) in the US and the rest of Europe.

Edit: I looked again, and it seems the A60 Pearl is no longer sold in Russia either. However, my point of course was merely that Onyx never made the alleged choice.
BTW, some months ago Onyx signed a contract with the company that supplies the touch screen technology e.g. for the Sony readers. That means that in the not too distant future we can expect Onyx to release readers with this technology rather than the current Wacom touchscreens, and seeing that Onyx now focuses mainly on models with Pearl screens I don't see them going back to non-Pearl.

Why can't Pocketbook make similar choices?

"Technology of yesteryear at today's prices"? No, it's technology of yesteryear at prices of yesteryear. Today's prices would be a lot lower!
